Fathers’ Story Week runs from 9-15 June

Schools, nurseries and other family settings across England are getting ready to celebrate Fathers’ Story Week from 9-15 June.

Fathers’ Story Week is a week-long celebration of fathers and father-figures, designed to help services reach out to and improve their engagement with dads, via free resources available to download at www.fathersstoryweek.org.

This year they’re inviting celebrity dads, including TV presenter Tim Lovejoy and Coronation Street actor Charlie Condou, to read stories in ‘Celebrity Story Time’, a year-round add-on to FSW, giving teachers and other practitioners useful material to download and play to children and their fathers at their ‘Fathers’ Story Time’ events. The first videos will be ready to download via the FSW website during Fathers’ Story Week.

And they’re inviting dads to make ‘selfies’ of themselves telling and reading stories to their children, which will be shared on their web-site and social media to help inspire other fathers to get reading with their children. All selfies will be entered into a prize draw to win a signed copy of ‘Dustbin Dad ‘ by children’s author Peter Bently – who also wrote ‘Cats Ahoy’.

Hudson Contract are proud to support the Fatherhood Institute and Fathers Story Week again in 2014. Construction is still a male-dominated industry so supporting an organisation that gives all children a strong and positive relationship with their fathers is very appropriate.
