TEC Apprenticeship Awards 2026: Hudson Contract Wins

19th February 2026 | Hudson Contract

Hudson named training champion as Bridlington honours founder

Hudson Contract has picked up two awards for its work supporting apprenticeships and charitable causes in Bridlington and beyond.

The family-owned business was named Training Champion of the Year at the TEC Apprenticeship Awards 2026, organised by one of England’s largest providers of further and higher education.

Hudson was nominated for its apprentice sponsorship scheme, which has supported hundreds of young tradespeople in East Yorkshire, and its internal apprenticeship scheme at the company headquarters in Bridlington. The ceremony took place at East Riding College, part of the TEC Partnership.

Fiona Gamwell, business support manager at Hudson Contract and a member of the government-backed Apprenticeship Ambassador Network, said: “We’re delighted to receive this recognition. Many of our most successful clients were built by entrepreneurs who started as apprentices themselves, so we know the value of learning a trade.

“Hudson has proudly sponsored more than 300 apprentices in East Yorkshire, with over 200 of them through the TEC Partnership, giving them experience and qualifications in local firms and bringing new talent into our industry.”

Meanwhile, the Bridlington Ambassadors group has honoured Hudson’s late founder David Jackson for his lasting contribution to the town and his substantial support for charitable causes.

The Ambassadors hosted their first-ever business awards and presented the philanthropy award to Mr Jackson’s widow Lesley Jackson, owner of Hudson Contract.

The event was attended by local entrepreneurs, community leaders and constituency MP Charlie Dewhirst.

Hudson Contract is sponsoring the East Yorkshire Apprenticeship Awards for the third year running. The awards are organised by the Yorkshire Post.
