Hudson supports first purpose-built MND centre in Leeds

22nd January 2026 | Hudson Contract

The UK's first purpose-built centre for Motor Neurone Disease care has opened in Leeds, with Hudson Contract among supporters honouring the legacy of rugby league legend Rob Burrow CBE.

The Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease at Seacroft Hospital represents a £6.8 million fundraising triumph, supported by more than 17,000 donors. Hudson's late founder David Jackson contributed a significant donation to the campaign, and regional account manager Andy Simpson attended the opening celebration event.

Rob BurrowsStuart Sanderson, director at Hudson, praised the inspirational fundraising efforts led by Rob Burrow, his family, and fellow Rhinos Star Kevin Sinfield CBE, whose heroic challenges captured national attention.

The centre, completed just 18 months after Rob's death, was designed in collaboration with patients, families, and clinical specialists. It provides the first dedicated space in Leeds for MND research, bringing scientists, clinicians, and patients closer together.

Dr Agam Jung, the centre's director and Rob's consultant, said the facility embodies Rob's determination to help people "live in the now" despite their diagnosis, providing holistic care in a calm, fully accessible environment.

Leeds Hospitals Charity continues fundraising to support the centre's equipment, therapeutic garden, family support services, and pioneering research into early MND diagnosis.

The centre establishes new standards for MND care expected to be replicated nationwide.
