We have become a member of the National Federation of Builders (NFB) to give a voice to our construction clients during CITB’s consensus process.
The NFB represents builders, contractors and house builders across England and Wales and is one of the UK’s longest standing trade bodies. Its members range from sole traders to multi-million pound construction companies for whom it provides expert advice, training, representation and business services
The NFB is one of 14 federations set to be consulted by the industry training board later this year as part of the consensus process to gain sector support for its levy-raising powers.
A Government consultation on CITB found that the majority of respondents believed it did not adequately support the self-employed and SMEs. NFB has continuously expressed concerns about access to grant funds favouring larger organisations over smaller organisations. Unlike other federations, it is committed to representing its member’s views.
Ian Anfield, managing director of Hudson Contract Services, said: “As a leading supplier to the UK construction industry, we have become a member of the NFB to provide an opportunity for representation to our 2,200 SME clients on one of the biggest issues facing the sector.
“If CITB stays, it must deliver a training system that is fit for purpose and value for money for small-and-medium-sized employers, the lifeblood of the construction industry. It cannot continue to be a cash cow for out of touch federations and large firms who milk the system.”
The NFB is offering our customers a 10 per cent discount on NFB subscriptions, so they can formally participate in CITB’s consensus process. Clients can find out more here.
Richard Beresford, chief executive of the NFB, added: “We are delighted that Hudson has become a member. Hudson’s clients will also be able to benefit from our valuable services to help them grow their businesses and have their voice heard on this important process.”
For clients who do not wish to join the NFB, completing the Hudson CITB Survey will allow us to put your points across under our membership.
