Hudson Contract took part in this year’s National Freelancers Day at an event hosted by the Association of Independent Professionals and the Self-Employed (IPSE).
Upcoming IR35 changes were of interest – and concern – to many delegates, so it was appropriate that we chose the date to launch Hudson Freelance, a new service designed to protect freelancers and the businesses they work with against the potentially disastrous fallout from the planned new tax rules.
Hudson Contract Managing Director Ian Anfield explains: “The new regime will tackle so-called disguised employment in the private sector. It’s all about compliance and understanding the complexities of changing tax rules, so Hudson Freelance seems like a natural extension of the service we already offer to our construction clients.
“Many of the delegates at National Freelancers day were well-paid consultants, so if HMRC should decide in future the that they are actually employees, the potential liabilities could be disastrous. There are big implications for all sorts of businesses – including construction – and if you want to see if you’re affected, please check out our new website.”
