Government’s Self-Employed Income Support Scheme (SEISS)

Government’s Self-Employed Income Support Scheme (SEISS)

13th May 2020 | Hudson Contract

Hudson Contract is raising awareness that the Government’s Self-Employed Income Support Scheme (SEISS) is now open for applications. HMRC hopes to make payments within six days of receiving an application.

All payments made under SEISS will be made direct by HMRC, not via Hudson.

To check if you are eligible for the scheme click here.

You will need your UTR number and National Insurance number. These can be found on your Hudson payment statement or any letter from HMRC. Once these are entered in you should receive an instant answer.

You will not be able to make a claim if:

  • You did not submit a 2018/2019 tax return by April 23 2020.
  • You make a profit of more than £50,000/year.
  • You are paid more as an employee than you take in profits as self-employed.

If you do claim:

  • You will be paid a one-off payment covering three months of lost profit.
  • The payment will be capped at £7,500.
  • You can continue to work and earn as the scheme tops up the difference in normal profit.
  • You will pay tax and national insurance on the grant.

Meanwhile, Hudson Blue has furloughed nearly 900 PAYE operatives under the Government's Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme.

HMRC have approved Hudson Blue to use the scheme to make grant payments to self-employed operatives taxed under PAYE.
