18th March 2021 | Hudson Contract
Hudson Contract has won a prestigious award for its commitment to providing meaningful opportunities for young people in seaside communities through work, sport and the arts.
The family-owned company won the Outstanding Contribution to the East Riding category in the Hull Business Awards 2020, hosted by BBC presenter Louise Minchin.
The awards celebrated “excellence through adversity” and highlighted stories of resilience, perseverance and performance in a challenging year.
The Outstanding Contribution category was sponsored by East Riding Council.
Hudson has been sponsoring apprentices in the construction supply chain for the last decade, paying a weekly £50 wage contribution and supporting more than 170 young people to learn valuable trade skills.
Hudson also funds a youth development officer at Bridlington Rugby Union Club, taking the youth set-up from 10 children to 160 in six years.
In addition, the company has supported Remarkable Arts in Bridlington, providing free access to music, dance and drama with taster workshops, professional development for teenagers and projects for those with special needs. The Young Musician Award is presented annually at Bridlington Spa.
Dave Jackson, founder and chairman, said: “I was born and brought up in Bridlington and I spent my formative years as an entrepreneur in Hull. The success that Hudson has realised allows us to put something worthwhile back into our local communities.
“We were thrilled to win this award and will continue to create opportunities for young people in the East Riding through work, sport and the arts.”
