Hudson backs next generation of industry talent in Leeds
15th October 2020 | Hudson Contract
As one of Yorkshire’s biggest family-owned businesses, Hudson Contract is delighted to be backing the new Levy Match service in Leeds to help create apprenticeship opportunities for young people in the construction industry.
We are donating unspent funds from our apprenticeship levy contributions to the Leeds City Council service. Levy Match Leeds makes funding available to employers small and large to cover the costs of training specific apprentices.
We want to support apprenticeships at levels 2 and 3 to introduce more young people to the construction industry.
Our chairman and founder David Jackson started his career as a trainee draughtsman in Leeds before launching a series of successful companies.
Hudson has a longstanding relationship with the Leeds College of Building, which is included in our ground-breaking apprenticeship scheme. To date, Hudson has sponsored more than 150 apprentices, many of whom have gone on to establish rewarding careers as self-employed tradespeople.
Managing director Ian Anfield said: We are proud to be helping young people from Leeds to gain the skills and qualifications they need to succeed in our sector. Highly skilled tradespeople are always in demand and can earn more than £70,000 a year.
Councillor Jonathan Pryor, Leeds City Council’s executive member for learning, skills and employment, said: We are delighted that Hudson Contract is supporting Levy Match Leeds. It is great to see this successful Yorkshire company investing in the next generation of construction workers in Leeds and we urge other companies to get involved.
Levy Match Leeds aims to ensure that as many levy payers as possible transfer unspent funds to non-levy payers.
