Andy Simpson
Regional Account Manager and Compliance Expert
Joined Hudson: 2012
Andy Simpson is our regional account manager for the North of England, covering the North West, Yorkshire and the North East. He serves construction clients ranging from small specialist trades to national tier-one contractors, working on high-rise residential projects, highways upgrades, city centre regeneration schemes, retail and logistics developments, and residential renovations. Andy has three decades’ experience in construction and joined us in 2012.
He says the main issues facing firms are CIS compliance, responding to complex new legislation, and misinformation in the market. A recent success involved a large groundworks contractor operating across the North of England with more than 100 operatives. Its previous labour arrangements exposed it to significant tax liabilities with contracts that weren't fit for purpose. Andy helped the company create compliant arrangements through Hudson, eliminating the risk and saving nearly £100,000 annually in the process.
Andy started his career as a 16-year-old joinery apprentice before progressing through various construction roles. He is based in West Yorkshire and outside work, he enjoys hill walking in the Peak District and Yorkshire Dales, spending time with family, and reading non-fiction.
Expertise: CIS Compliance, Tax and Employment Law, Legislation updates, Misinformation Countering, Status Disputes, Tribunals, Workplace Audits
